Planning Green Futures conducted a comprehensive compost training program on the 17th of April 2025. This program was designed to promote sustainable waste management practices, particularly composting, among institutions that generate significant volumes of organic waste. The training was aimed at creating awareness and building the technical capacity of individuals from key stakeholder groups—namely schools, hotels, and restaurants. The session was held in three locations: the theoretical session took place at The World Bank office in Freetown, the hands-on practical session was conducted at 6 Mount Blue Close in Leicester Village, and the training concluded with an educational visit to the Freetown Innovation Lab located at Fourah Bay College. A total of 17 participants attended the training, representing various schools, hospitality institutions, and media organizations. Their active engagement throughout the sessions demonstrated a shared commitment to adopting and promoting environmentally responsible waste practices. The training methodology combined classroom-based learning with interactive discussion sessions, practical field exercises, and real-life exposure to waste recycling innovations, ensuring a well-rounded and impactful experience.
